C.O.P.E.

Progressive legislation and political action go hand in hand. The CWA Committee on Political Education was formed with this knowledge. We must all support our COPE program. We must elect to public office men and women who truly represent the people's interests.

Besides securing additional protective labor laws, we must maintain and strengthen laws we now have.

Some of these laws, won after years of struggle by the labor movement, are being threatened by anti-labor forces.Several laws have been passed to restrict and control unions. Union licensing, compulsory incorporation laws and others are intended to undermine the union's bargaining position. Such proposals are aimed at the destruction of a free labor movement.

The full strength of the CWA membership is needed to combat our anti-union enemies and build a better way of life.
